MISSION STRATEGY
Our unique strategy of Joining, Action & Knowledge has it’s roots in an Indian ethos which states;
- KNOWLEDGE is the ultimate aim of life.
- Knowledge if not utilised for betterment of humanity is of no use (य: क्रियवान् स: पण्डित:) Hence, ACTION is equally important.
- Powerful action is not possible without JOINING people together (संघटने शक्ति:)
In simple words, whether it is a slum or a tribal village, we work with group of change makers who are then empowered to take a positive action in their own area. The successful ideas & the knowledge generated thereof is documented and scaled up in other areas.
YOJAK is 'joining' people through tools such as Self-help groups & cooperatives. The selected groups are initially empowered through creation of livelihood opportunities along with provision of educational and health facilities. The groups are further empowered to 'Act' on various poverty alleviation & nature conservation initiatives in their village/slum areas.
ETHICS
Youth Organization for Joining, Action & Knowledge (YOJAK) for all of us is a TEMPLE of understanding society. YOJAK is and will remain a place for youngsters where they shall learn to worship character (Charitrya), nationalism (Deshprem) and humanity (manavata).
THE NAME
When we saw, one of our SHG member who is a private ration shopkeeper donating rice & pulses to five poorest families every month, we felt proud, as mere spreading concept of self-help and cooperation has changed the mind-set of a person that further benefitted poorest families in his village.
In every village, in every part of the society there are needy people. We have seen that outsiders have very limited scope to uplift their lives. The best & sustained help they can get is through their own neighbours.
We work as a facilitator to create a space & bring likeminded people together. YOJAK is a sanskrit word for facilitator. The role of a facilitator has been rightly pointed out in one of the Sanskrit Shlokas;अमंतरम् अक्षरं नास्ति नास्ति मूलमनौषधम्|
अयॊग्य: पुरुषॊ नास्ति यॊजकस्तत्र दुर्लभ:||“There is no word which can’t be a Mantra, there is no root which can’t be a medicine. There is no man who is incapable, a facilitator can make this happen!” (Translation of Shloka)
